ADEQUATE ACTUALIZATION OF TEXT CONCEPTS IN THE PROCESS OF TRANSLATION
Summary. The article treats peculiarities of actualizing text concepts in the process of translation and actual use of language means. The languages of source and target texts differ in ways of reflecting and reorganizing concepts of objective reality, contextual interrelation of elements of different language levels and complex of extralingual factors typical of every language.
Keywords: text concepts, actualization, denotational model, semantic model, transformational model, paradigm, adequate translation.
The main objective for a translator is to eliminate hurdles which hamper adequate actualization of text concepts in a variety of aspects related to cultural identity or difference. The choice is viewed in terms of either content, structure of a language or its textual, interpersonal, experiential, logical metafunctions, which involve interference and transposition processes and specify plurilingual conceptual basis of a source and target texts. Due to a great number of works covering different aspects of actualizing text concepts in the process of translation, more in-depth research of structural, grammatical, semantic and pragmatic correlations of source and target texts has been observed [1-6].
The context gives a priority to the speaker or translator emphasizing verbalization of conceptual matters as a result of cognitive modeling mechanisms of two different languages. The actual use of language means reflects deterministic paradigm of traditional and modern trends involving recoding, monolingual understanding, situational conceptualization.
Associative-correlative and informative relations in source and target texts imply situational conceptualization as well as verbalizing different conceptual matters at the lingual and paralingual levels.
The ways of actualizing intertextual relations which characterize conceptual language basis of different language communities, their knowledge paradigms, historic and cultural processes influence the adequate translation.
Actualization of potential peculiarities typical of different language types, verbalization of various conceptual matters as a result of cognitive modeling mechanisms of two different languages reflect denotational, semantic and transformational models.
The most popular translation model is denotational which implies referential peculiarities of language signs. Semantic model treats the plane of content of language signs, while transformational model considers an infinite number of transforms generated from a finite number of nucleus structures.
There exist a number of reasons which help to estimate the correlation: semantic meaning and content of a message expressed by text fragments. The meaning of text structures can be reduced without deficiency of meaning (language redundancy) or extralingual reasons (communicative irrelevance of the author’s and addressee’s objectives).
The prospects for future research will cover the aspects of comparison heterogeneous and cognate language structures of source and target texts, and peculiarities of their translation.
